Hello, It's Me Again!

by Jim Carter

Hello again, its been a while, how have you been? It's been a rough year for me on the music front. Many of my favorite musicians have left us and it has made me much less motivated to write anything as of late. But I am back and I am going to try to keep up with this as best as I can given that I have two little ones and a full time job to keep up with too. SO sit back and enjoy the ride!

Greetings and Welcome!!

Well, here it is, I finally have gotten up off of my ass and started this website that I thought of over a year ago. It has taken me a while to really figure out the direction I wanted to go with it but I think I have figured it out. I still have the right to change my mind though.

Lets give you a little background about me. I have been an electronics nerd ever since I was a little kid when I first saw Star Wars in the movie theater and when I got my first video game system, the Atari 2600. I knew it right then and there because I knew better how to hook it up to the TV than my Dad who worked on electronics in the Air Force just a few short years before purchasing the Atari for me for Christmas. Ok, it was a Sears version but you get where I am going with this right?

Anyway, that is where my love affair for electronics started and it has grown ever since, next with handheld games (Mattel Football anyone) and eventually it grew to a passion for audio and video equipment.

Why audio and video equipment you ask? Well as I mentioned earlier my love for electronics did start out with the movie Star Wars so it is only logical that video would be part of it but why audio? Well I have brother to thank for that. His passion for music was infectious and I definitely caught the disease bad. It all started with The Beatles and grew to expand to KISS, Prince, Miles Davis, Tchaikovsky and many others.

So the next logical step? Start selling the stuff, of course. It all started as a teenager, working in a big box retailer in their sight and sound department. I then graduated eventually to a great local chain of mid level audio/video equipment. This is where the big epiphany happened for me. I heard my first great sound system and I was hooked. There was no going back from there.  My passion for great sound and great music just exploded from there. Unfortunately the economy and the desire for great audio imploded not too long after, so my time (and many others like me) in the world of mid-fi electronics came to an end.

I luckily have still found a job in the industry unlike many of my brethren so for that I am grateful. It allows me to keep a hand on the pulse of what is going on.

So, what is this site going to be about? Good question, I’m glad you asked, you’re such a thoughtful person. Well, I am going to start with music and the occasional equipment reviews. If you are a manufacturer and you would like me to give my twisted view of your product, email me* and I will be more than happy to take a demo model in and see how it stacks up.

Over time, for better or for worse, you will see my opinions on topics like hi resolution audio, the loudness wars and the new record resurgence just to name a few topics you may see in my blog. I even hope to get some guest bloggers to impart their wisdom on you. If you are interested in contributing email me and let me see what you have.

You can also join the discussions about what is posted here by visiting and liking our Facebook page

I see the site evolving eventually into much more but for now I think this is all a full-time working dad with two young kids can handle. I hope you enjoy and I always welcome your comments here#.
